Dear Friends and Neighbors,
I love October! These are always the best skies for astronomy. They’re dry and dark, and usually little haze. It’s a great time to look at the sky. The Stargazer Observatory will be open this Saturday from 8:00-10:00PM for public viewing (weather permitting). The Orionid meteor shower will be peaking which means we have a chance to see a few meteors from Halley’s comet. But the main thing I want to see are planets. Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune will be visible. We will also be checking out the usual objects, such as the Ring Nebula, the Great Andromeda Galaxy, and the Hercules Cluster. It’s supposed to be cool on Saturday, so please dress for cool temperatures as the dome and observation deck are not heated.
I hope you can make it.
